Testimonials

Mary Beth is the best massage therapist around.  She understands how to work the aches and pains out of your body.  When I met her I was a complete disbeliever on the concept.  Now I will not live without a massage from her.  I was having significant pain in the muscles in my chest.  After some analysis of watching me sit at work, she determined my body was way out of alignment and the muscles were very twisted.  Six months later, after regular massages, the pain has vanished.  I will not go without my regular massage.

The One Thing You Need to Know to Be Healthy

Posted by: Mary Beth Braun   |   Tuesday, May 31, 2011

The one thing you need to know to be healthy is yourself.

In the Duke Integrative Health Wheel of Health, you are the central focus. Further, Mindful Awareness of physical, mental, social, and spiritual well-being is the key to start the process of positive change.

Knowing yourself take time, contemplation and reflection.

I suggest you take 60-90 minutes with a pen and paper, IPAD, netbook, etc. and do the following:

  • jot down what you currently know about your physical, mental, social and spiritual well-being.
  •  Once you know where you are, write down where you would like to be in all 4 areas.
  • Finally, write down 1 action you can take in the next week each area to move yourself towards your goals.

In my personal experience, I have been on a lifelong journey to discover how to achieve my optimal health and life balance.   I am still learning about myself each day.  One thing I know for certain is I do not always succeed and some days are better than others. I've learned to seek progress, not perfection.

What progress are you making towards knowing yourself and being healthy?
