Mary Beth has been my massage therapist for 10 years. She has helped me through many physical issues. I have been known to go beyond my physical capacities…from training for a mini-marathon to moving scaffolding by myself to having a piece of concrete fall on me.
Mary Beth has such great knowledge of the body. She can interpret my description of issues and pains and get to the point of origin. She has kept me going on many occasions and has taught me a lot about myself. I plan on continuing a healthy and free-moving life. She will help me achieve this goal.
Family traditions are powerful and create meaning in our lives. They do this in several ways:
At 46 years old, I have fond memories of some of my own family traditions.
As a child, we always got books for Christmas, which no doubt fed my passion about life and learning.
We had birthday celebrations that included extended family, which no doubt fed my love of family and taught me respect for my elders.
At family gatherings, we played cards, board games or croquet, which fostered lots of laughter and a somewhat competitive spirit.
Mostly, as a child of divorce, it helped me maintain a sense of security and consistency. I get a smile on my face as I write this post just thinking of all the fun I had as a child.
So, I encourage you to think about your favorite family traditions from childhood and carry them on or create news ones in your own family. Get that secret recipe from your Mother or GrandMother, so someone can make it when they pass on.
Funny how gravy or Macaroni and Cheese can evoke enormous love within us as it reminds us of those who mean so much.
May you capture that love today and everyday.
